Frequently Asked Questions:
How exactly does your program work?
First you fill out the enrollment agreement, life experience profile, and the transcript request. Then, as soon as we receive these, according to the courses that YOU want to take, we will send you your books, and tell you what needs to be completed in order to receive credit. You set your own schedule, and when you feel comfortable, send in your work to our P.O. Box. Within 10 business days, you will receive your grades back. It is just that simple!

or tuition

us. We will replace it with another

you will receive an official transcript
and a High School Diploma from Southeast Atlantic Academy.
How much does the program cost?
We offer several different programs to serve your needs. Check page 2 of the enrollment agreement for details.
Is there a comprehensive program exam?
No. We use the portfolio method of evaluation. That is, all work is sent to us for evaluation and grades are assigned according to the quality of the submitted lessons.
How often should I send in the work?
You may send in work at your convenience, but at least every nine weeks. This is especially important for students under compulsory attendance age.
What type of curriculum does your school use?
We develop a unique curriculum plan based on the student's needs. However, these include books from publishers such as:
Silver
Burdett & Ginn
Macmillan
Harcourt
Brace Jovanovich
Houghton
Mifflin
That's just to name a few. Remember, the student will receive varied books from different publishers, according to their transcript evaluation.
Will others automatically know that this is a distance education school?
Your diploma does not state that Southeast Atlantic Academy is a distance education institution. However, please be aware that distance education is increasingly popular, and that you are enrolling in an alternative school that is established and meets both state requirements for operation and is regionally accredited. If you are successful in distance education you should be proud of yourself!
If I return to a traditional classroom in a local high school, will I be able to transfer these courses?
Our school is an accredited CITA-SACS distance education school, which is an internationally recognized accrediting agency.
Each school has its own policies about course transfer. In
addition, Southeast Atlantic Academy
follows the State of Florida
course numbering system, curriculum frameworks and performance standards.
Therefore, our courses correspond in both description and number, making it
easier for public and private
institutions to determine which courses will transfer. Some of our
students have successfully returned to
traditional public educational institutions.
Is Ogburn Home School a GED program?
No. The GED is earned by taking a series of tests administered by an authorized testing agent. Our diploma is a credit diploma granted by a private school.
How long does it take to complete the program?
This depends on how many courses you already have completed elsewhere and how quickly you complete each course. You could graduate in as little as four to six weeks!
How will I know how much life experience I have earned?
When you return your life experience profile and we receive any prior transcripts, we then determine how many courses you need for program completion.
How do I know how many courses I have to transfer?
When your transcript is returned to us, we evaluate which courses will transfer into your program. It is our policy to transfer courses that coordinate in name, number, and/or description if the transcript is sent on school letterhead and is verifiable by our director.
When do I receive my diploma?
Your diploma is sent as soon as you complete the course requirements and pay tuition in full.
Can I go to college with your diploma?
Yes, many of our students continue on to postsecondary education. You can apply to the college of your choice, but please remember, you must pass entrance or placement exams at most colleges.
Can I join the military?
Our school is accredited as a Tier One institution Each branch of the military has it’s own requirements. You must make a certain score on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test and meet other physical and/or age requirements. You may need to complete a semester of college or technical school. Check with your local recruiter.
